Are you ready to advance your career in traffic management design?
Enrol in our Traffic Management Designer 3 Course (TMD3) and develop the advanced skills required to design traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes for Category 3 roads, including motorways and freeways.
Skills Covered: Prepare traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes for motorways and freeways
Entry Requirements: This skill set may only be undertaken in addition to:
- completion of the RIISS00063 Traffic Management Designer Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads; and
- at least twelve months experience applying skills and knowledge relevant to the above-mentioned skill set in a temporary traffic management workplace; and
- providing evidence of relevant experience preparing at least 4 different traffic management plan design types (being both approved by a client and successfully used in practice) including lane closures, high speed roads, and at least one of the following design types:
- pedestrian and cyclist controls
- intersections
- signalised intersections
- construction sites
- shoulder closures
- using portable traffic control devices
- roundabouts
- public transport interfaces.
Training and Assessment: The Traffic Management Designer 3 (TMD3) training and assessment is delivered through a combination of one day of theoretical learning and post-course practical assessment activities.
The theoretical component is completed in one day and focuses on the requirements for preparing traffic management plans and traffic guidance schemes for motorways and freeways.
Assessment for this unit includes both theoretical and practical components. The practical assessment component is undertaken after the required practical experience has been gained and must include at least two different traffic management plan design types, applying the relevant skills and knowledge in a temporary traffic management workplace.
All practical experience and post-course assessment requirements must be completed on Temporary Traffic Management Category 3 roads within six months of successfully completing the theoretical component.
